On show from October 13th until the end of March, 2005.
Organized in Norway, the exhibit consists of large panels with photos and documents that tell the story of Henrik Wergeland, who was instrumental in the repeal of Article 2 that did not allow Jews into Norway during the early 19th century. Although he was not Jewish, the Jews of Norway celebrate his life.
The second part of the exhibit deals with Jewish immigration from 1852-1945, and explores all aspects of Jewish life in Norway.
The Museum has enhanced the exhibit with stories, photos and artefacts from members of the Toronto Jewish community who lived in Norway. An accompanying book will be available for sale and a wonderful piece of film from a newsreel will be part of the exhibit. |
