Kosher Recipe Pages: Welcome all Foodies

Sharon Gottlieb, Editor

I credit my beloved parents, Josef and Pauline Krystal, of blessed memory, for instilling in me my love and passion for Jewish food and cooking. Being the daughter of Holocaust survivors, born after the war in a displaced person camp in Bergen Belsen, I was blessed to come to Canada at eight months of age and to be raised in a warm and loving traditional Jewish home.

Ours was a home brimming with friends, out of town visitors, charity teas and fund-raisers and our extended Holocaust “family.” Of course, wonderful traditional Jewish food was an important part of every gathering and celebration. Thankfully, my mother’s love of cooking and entertaining, and many of her recipes and traditions have been passed down to me.

I can think of no better way to honour my parents’ memory than to share these traditions and recipes with you, and serve as Editor of Beth Tzedec’s Kosher Recipe Pages. I look forward to sharing my rich Jewish culinary background with you, as well as my past experience as a professional nutritionist, author and teacher.

I am now reaching out to you, my fellow Beth Tzedec family, to submit some of your favourite family recipes to us, using the easy to follow recipe tools. Your recipe contributions can be a very meaningful way to honour family members and your personal Jewish heritage, or just a fun way to share and compare recipes.

Also, if you are in need of a wonderful dish for Shabbat dinner, yom tov or any day, you now have a tool that will enable you to access our growing database of delicious kosher delights.

I look forward to a wonderful collaboration and trying some of your family favourites!
