As I mentioned in my High Holy Day address, a Visioning Committee has been meeting since 2019 to streamline our vision and mission at Beth Tzedec. Our findings in those early months were validated by the circumstances our congregation found ourselves in as of March 2020 and the consequences of the pandemic forced us to shift our focus.
I am so excited to announce that we are moving forward with an enhanced vision for the future. This vision revolves around the central values that form the core of our Beth Tzedec community:
Care, Connect, Learn, Pray, Celebrate and Give & Get.
We are visualizing those values through a Jewish star, with each point representing one of the unique values of our congregation. While each value is unique, they come together to represent a unified mosaic of our kehillah. We are proud of the diversity of our synagogue and want to highlight everything that makes Beth Tzedec so special.
We determined these values by incorporating every corner of our vibrant and dedicated membership. From our daily minyan-goers, to our B’nei Mitzvah teens; from our Out of the Cold volunteers, to our Refugee Sponsorship group; from our 20s and 30s delivering hallah to seniors, to our young families connecting with each other at our Family Havdalah. Our values highlight that there is something for everyone at Beth Tzedec.
These six values will guide our strategy moving forward. Every Beth Tzedec experience will engage with these values as we continue to build and strengthen our Beth Tzedec family.
Thanks to you, our members, Beth Tzedec has been an institution of Toronto Jewish life for 66 years. With these values at the centre of our mission, we will continue to inspire and enable each of you to live meaningful Jewish lives for many years to come.
