Dive into the evocative photography of Marvin Cooper and explore peaceful images of life in Israel, taken during his regular visits to the country.
Much of the news coming out of the Middle East focuses on conflict between Israel and its neighbors. This exhibit shows another side: a peaceful existence within Israel, an existence that hopefully one day will spread to all the people in the Middle East and beyond.
Each year, Marvin travels to Israel to visit his large extended family. During these visit he has focused on images of the landscape, the architecture and nature. Lately, his focus has been almost exclusively street photography, capturing the diverse cultural composition of Israel.
Sorting through thousands of images and distilling them to just 20 has been an interesting and emotional experience for Marvin. He is not surprised by the 2019 United Nations report that recognizes Israel as the 13th happiest country in the world (Canada is number 11).
