Joy and Complications: Today’s New Jewish Families

To quote Lee M. Hendler, Jewish Grandparent Network Co-Founder and President “These are not the families we expected”.  Jewish home life is changing with growing numbers of interfaith, multi-racial, LGBTQ, and single parent families.  Navigating this changing family landscape filled with rewards and stumbling blocks presents challenges along with opportunities to enrich our families and our communities.

Lee will be joined by Derrick Ashong and Shira Concool to discuss their personal experiences as members of “today’s new Jewish families”.

This program will be offered via Zoom. Pre-registration is required to receive the link information. To register, click here>>

Shira Concool and Derrick Ashong met as students at Yale University.  Shira went on to receive her master’s degree in Counselling at NYU while Derrick received his MD at Emory University and was a Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University.  Along the way they married, and welcomed Isabel, who is now 18 months old. They currently live in Symrna, GA, a suburb of Atlanta.
