Dr. Cecil Roth was Reader (professor) in Post Biblical Jewish Studies at Oxford University, and a world-wide lecturer and author on Jewish and Italian history and culture.  At age 19 while a student at Merton College, Cecil began to amass what became a vast collection of Judaica until his retirement when the collection was acquired by Beth Tzedec Congregation.
