IGNITE! opens with a community-wide Havdalah for all ages, then breaks into a choose-your-own-adventure of arts-based workshops, performances and Jewish study sessions. The centrepiece of the program will include a hybrid live/virtual variety concert curated by the Ashkenaz Festival, in which artists from around the corner and around the world will bring us fresh musical performances inspired by the themes of the season. Kosher food for purchase. All are welcome!
Suggested donation: $20 for adults. Live and online options are available. register here>>
As a partner in Ignite, Beth Tzedec is hosting two sessions, "H̱anukkah Song Circle" and "Ask the Rabbi", featuring Aviva Chernick, Cantor Ezer, Rabbi Fryer Bodzin, Reb Steve and our new H̱esed intern Aaron Rotenberg. As well, Aviva and Cantor Ezer will be part of leading Havdalah, Yacov Fruchter will be taking part in the first session panel on Tikkun Olam and Aviva will be singing in the Ashkenaz-sponsored Shamash concert. Join the whole team and the community for this great celebration.
We will also be hosting a 20s & 30s L’Chaim from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m., an informal opportunity for young adults from across Jewish Toronto. It will be a great chance to relax and connect with others of a similar age and life stage, and to toast to the H̱anukkah festival together!
Jointly presented by The Holy Blossom Temple Centre for Arts and Culture, Annex Shul, Ashkenaz Foundation, Beth Tzedec Congregation, City Shul, Danforth Jewish Circle, First Narayever Congregation, Makom: Creative Downtown Judaism, Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre, Congregation Shir Libeynu, and the UJA Committee for Yiddish.
