The European Union has been through some difficult times in the past several years—economic crisis, refugee crisis, rising radicalism and Brexit and its aftermath. How can we understand these difficulties and the ways in which the EU is (and is not) meeting these challenges? Is it still a model of successful regional integration? What is the future for European integration? Heather MacRae will explore these challenges and the ways in which the EU has evolved and changed in recent years.
Professor Heather MacRae is associate professor in the politics department at York University. Her primary teaching areas are European and specifically German politics and gender policy. From 2014 to 2017, she held a prestigious Jean Monnet Chair in European Integration.
