As part of the growing volunteering opportunities for teens at Beth Tzedec, we’re excited to offer a monthly hands-on volunteering experience for students in grades 9 to 12.
Volunteering isn’t just about helping others—it’s about building empathy, leadership, and a deep sense of responsibility. In Judaism, the values of chesed (acts of loving-kindness) and tzedek (justice and doing what’s right) call on us to show up for others and create a more compassionate community. This program gives teens the chance to bring those values to life through meaningful, real-world action.
Each month, teens will connect with peers, contribute to causes that matter, earn volunteer hours, and grow as engaged and thoughtful Jewish leaders.
October Session:
Opening Session: Spreading Love Through Art
In our first session, we’ll explore why volunteering is such an important value in Judaism—and then put it into action! Teens will design and personalize reusable canvas bags for the Kosher Food Bank of Beth Shalom. These much-needed bags, filled weekly with groceries for individuals and families facing food insecurity, will carry not only food but also uplifting messages of care and dignity. Together, we’ll learn what it means to give without expecting anything in return and to spread love through our actions.
