Lara Rodin—Having just completed her first year of rabbinical school, Lara Rodin spent time learning from the clergy and kehillah at Beth Tzedec this past June as the 2021 Tanenbaum Fellow. Before beginning rabbinical school at the Jewish Theological Seminary, Lara studied Eastern spirituality at McGill, and spent two years learning in the Beit Midrash at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, where she completed a Masters in Jewish Education. Lara believes that Torah and Tefillah are most accessible when taught "on the trail", and that Jewish learning comes alive outdoors. As part of the Tanenbaum fellowship, Lara is spending the summer at Camp Ramah in Canada, where she is planting the seeds for a wilderness/spirituality specialty track that will launch Summer '22. When she’s not in the classroom, you can find Lara hiking, cycling, or swimming in the Canadian Rockies, near her hometown of Calgary.
