Modern Loss: An Evening of Candid Community and Conversation about Grief

with acclaimed authors Rebecca Soffer and David Sax

Sep 15 2025, 7:30PM to 9:30PM in the Mezzanine Hall.

Join bestselling author and grief expert Rebecca Soffer (The Modern Loss Handbook) and acclaimed journalist and author David Sax (The Revenge of Analog) for an honest, heartfelt and even humorous conversation about grief, renewal, and the power of forming compassionate communities. Together, they'll explore the universal experience of grief, the growing movement to destigmatize it, and the importance of finding meaning, joy, and the people who "get it" in the wake of loss.

The Modern Loss Handbook is the guide Soffer wished someone had given her after the death of her parents—a practical, creative, and comforting resource for navigating grief on your own terms. With warmth, wit, and disarming candor, Soffer and Sax will delve into the book's insights and reflect on how loss can be woven into life in ways that are supportive, provocative, and ultimately hopeful.

If you're grieving the loss of "your person" or another profound life change–or looking to support someone moving through the tough stuff—this event offers a rare space to explore the often unspoken and profoundly human experience of living with loss.
