Traumatic Invalidation in the Jewish Community after October 7: Jewish Resilience and a Path to Healing

An Evening of Learning and Conversation with Dr. Miri Bar-Halpern

Sep 03 2025, 7:30PM to 9:00PM in the Off-Site...

Since October 7, you’ve likely experienced a profoundly unsettling feeling in even your closest circles: Denial, dismissal, and distortion of our lived experience as Jews. You know it’s real, but others act like it’s not.

You’re not alone—and you’re not imagining it.

It’s called traumatic invalidation, a real and recognized psychological phenomenon.

Join Dr. Miri Bar-Halpern as we come together as a community for a powerful presentation to name what is happening, understand its impact and explore how we begin to heal. This program will be of interest to all in our community including educators, parents, and anyone who feels their Jewish identity and well-being have been impacted.

This program is generously co-sponsored by Holy Blossom Temple, The Luke Sklar Mental Health Initiative of Holy Blossom Temple, Mental Health Empowerment Day, Beth Tzedec Congregation, Beth Tzedec Centre for Spiritual Well-Being, and OneFamily.

Dr. Miri Bar-Halpern is the Director of Trauma Training and Services at Parents for Peace and a Lecturer in Psychology at Harvard Medical School.

She is nationally recognized as a trauma expert and a leading researcher on traumatic invalidation—a phenomenon she explores in both clinical practice and academic work.
