Shabbat Shirah Weekend

Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8

  • Beth Tzedec is thrilled to announce the kick-off event for our 70th anniversary celebrations—a Shabbat Shirah Weekend. We will welcome artist-in-residence Dr. Galeet Dardashti, vocalist, composer, anthropologist and culture creator, as we celebrate Shabbat Shirah together.

    With her Iranian-Jewish heritage, Galeet Dardashti has earned a reputation as a trail-blazing performer, educator, and advocate for Middle Eastern and North African Jewish culture. We will learn from Galeet, sing together and marvel in the presentation of award winning concert event, Monajat, on Saturday night.

Song Circles with Aviva Chernick

Thursdays, January 16, 23 & 30 at 7:00 p.m.

  • Explore what it is to sing and join in healing and uplifting song in the lead up to the celebration of the Song of the Sea. Come in out of the cold and let the singing and community warm you up. Ages 12 years old and up are welcome. No prior singing experience is necessary to participate. Every voice is welcome!

Torah Through a Mindfulness Lens with Aviva Chernick

Sundays, January 19 and 26 and February 2 at 3:00 p.m.

  • Join Aviva Chernick for this meditation series engaging with the weekly Torah portion as a source of inspiration. We will approach the Torah portions through a mindfulness lens, discovering how Torah can be a teacher for us, guiding us towards open hearted and awakened living.

Tzingles Music Sunday: The Uri Gurvich Quartet

  • Beth Tzedec's Tzingles are invited to a jazz concert with The Uri Gurvich Quartet, performing the Sasah Argov Project. The concert will be held at the Sandra Faire and Ivan Fecan Theatre in the Accolade East Building. Following the concert, we will have dinner at an area restaurant.

All-Day Arborating Celebrating Treemendous Trees!

Sunday, February 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • Through crafts, stories, taste experiences, games and more, we’ll celebrate the birthday of those unsung heroes of God’s world: TREES! You do not have to commit to participating in the full program time. Families are welcome to drop in for the time segment that works best for them.

Na'aleh Toronto Jewish Mindfulness Collective

  • Na’aleh is a collective of Jewish mindfulness practitioners and leaders who are building a Jewish mindfulness community in Toronto and surrounding areas.

    Our team is excited to launch our first series—an arc of four programs offered throughout this year, 5785 (2024-2025), each delving into mindfulness practices and Jewish spiritual wisdom to prepare for an upcoming Jewish holiday.

  • Come together to hang out with our friends, meet other tweens in the community, get a head start on B’Mitzvah prep (optional opportunity to start learning how to read Torah), and have plenty of time for snacks and shmoozing!
