Olam H̱esed Yibaneh—we must build this world from compassion—is the compelling force behind Beth Tzedec’s Refugee Sponsorship Group.
Our current goal is to sponsor another refugee family to Toronto, where they can thrive, where their children can go to school, and where they can live in a safe and secure home. Most of us take the safety and security of our homes for granted, but this family was forced to flee theirs, and are now living in dire conditions.
Four years ago, the Beth Tzedec Refugee Sponsorship Committee brought a Syrian family in peril to Toronto, helping to find them an apartment and furnishing it, and supporting them as they transitioned to a secure yet very different life in Canada. Today, the family is thriving and the eldest daughter is now in her first year of engineering at Ryerson University. Their lives would have been immeasurably different without the will and financial support of Beth Tzedec members and their family and friends in the wider community.
The Mishna (Sanhedrin 4:5) teaches us that one who sustains one life is as if they sustain the entire world. Help us to fulfill this responsibility and join our community of generous donors in changing the lives of another family that is desperate for a new beginning.
Donate Today: The most immediate and effective contribution you can make at this time is financial. All contributions are tax deductible. We have raised $50,000 to sponsor a family for one year.

Tell Family and Friends: Please share this information with people you know and ask them to support this important initiative.
Join Our Committee: If you would like to take on a more hands-on role, join us. New members are welcome. We need help to raise funds, raise awareness and educate, as well as to advocate for refugees. Be prepared for an incredible experience! Please contact Bari Zittell at barizittell@gmail.com.
