Annual Simẖat Torah Luncheon


Join us at Beth Tzedec as we return again for our annual Simẖat Torah Service and luncheon honouring our Kallat Torah Dena Libman and our H̱attan Bereisheet Oscar Zimmerman

Following an uplifting Service, we'll gather in our beautiful Orenstein Mezzanine Hall for a delicious catered luncheon where we can reconnect with friends, neighbours and fellow members while celebrating with Dena and Oscar.

Our Yom Tov service offers the energy and inspiration of a complete spiritual and liturgical Shabbat experience as you sing along with Cantor Sidney Ezer. Rabbi Steven Wernick and Rabbi Robyn Fryer Bodzin offer insights into our Torah reading, expertly chanted by Lorne Hanick

Come to be a part of our special musical and spiritual davening. Lift your soul in prayer as you sing with us or close your eyes in meditation and be carried away by the magnificent harmonic sounds of the service.

Shemini Atzeret Musical Participatory Service, including Yizkor

Join us for a Musical Participatory Service led by Cantor Sidney Ezer, Asher Farber and our small vocal ensemble, The HarmonEzers. We will introduce new melodies and revive some older and familiar ones in a way that will be sure to get our toes tapping and our voices singing in harmony. Our Shemini Atzeret service will also include Yizkor.

Please join us for the Simẖat Torah morning service including Hallel, Hakafot and the renewal of the Torah Reading cycle. As part of our Simhat Torah Services, we will honour our Kallat Torah Dena Libman and our H̱attan Bereisheet Oscar Zimmerman.

Family, Youth and Teen Opportunities

Yom Tov Morning Fun!

Monday and Tuesday, October 10 & 11
and Monday and Tuesday, October 17 & 18

9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Join us for a children's Yom Tov experience that builds Jewish knowledge and community. We start at 9:30 a.m. with loosely structured activities, and at 10:00 a.m. will divide into older (Jr. Congregation) and younger (Mini Minyans) groups for Tefillah (prayers) and an activity connected to the holiday Torah portion. Following a snack and a program with our Shinshinit Amit or another guest, we return to our families and help lead the concluding prayers of the service.

Children ages 3 and younger require adult accompaniment; those ages 4 and up can be dropped off.

Yom Tov Morning Fun is for children age 0 to 4 in Room 104.
Mini Minyans (starting at 10:00 a.m.) is for ages 5 through 7 in Room 103.
Jr. Congregation (starting at 10:00 a.m.) is for ages 8 through 12 in Room 102.


Gesher Candy Sukkah

Wednesday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m.

For Grades 6 to 8—Text a few friends and join Sylvie Moscovitz, Teen Engagement Coordinator, for a delicious sukkah-building activity...making candy sukkahs! Pre-registration is required. To register, click here>> 


BTUSY Sukkah Hop for Grades 8 to 12

Saturday, October 15 at 8:00 p.m.

Join your friends from BTUSY for a teen Sukkah hop with Havdalah, a volunteer project, candy sukkah making and more! Community service hours will be provided. Pre-registration is required to Sylvie at smoscovitz@beth-tzedec.org


Simẖat Torah Family Dinner

Monday, October 17 at 5:30 p.m.

20s and 30s Opportunities

Sukkah of Peace/Sukkat Shalom 

Friday, October 14 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Join Beth Tzedec 20s and 30s, YAD @ Holy Blossom, JIAS and UJA Genesis for a special Sukkot 20s and 30s Shabbat dinner. This will be an opportunity to connect with young Jewish Ukrainian newcomers and celebrate Shabbat and Sukkot together. 

Space is limited to keep the experience intimate and maximize relationship building. 

  • 6:00 p.m.: Friday night services at either Beth Tzedec and Holy Blossom
  • 7:00 p.m.: Shabbat dinner in the Beth Tzedec Sukkah 
  • The fun continues as we "hop" to the Holy Blossom Sukkah (1950 Bathurst Street) for dessert
