Yacov Fruchter is thrilled to be part of the Beth Tzedec family and can’t wait to meet you.
Born, raised and inspired Jewishly in Montreal, Yacov has spent the last ten years working as an informal Jewish educator. After attending McGill, he worked as the Director of Advocacy and Programming for Hillel Montreal. He then moved to Toronto to work as the Director of Emerging Campuses and Jewish Education for Hillel Canada. Most recently, from August 2009 until June 2015, Yacov served as the Spiritual Leader of the Annex Shul where he built a community of hundreds of inspired young Jews and empowered them to take ownership over their Jewish experiences.
Yacov is married to Ryla Braemer and is the proud father of two daughters, Sheelo Netta and Lev Amie, and one son, Sela Matan. Yacov and his family enjoy living in the heart of the Annex and are proud to contribute to the vibrancy of Jewish life South of Eglinton.
Yacov is always available for a conversation about any topic that is important to you. He believes in the transformative power of "real” conversations and is always excited to help individuals and families make meaningful Jewish decisions.
Yacov writes a monthly D'var Torah for the Canadian Jewish News and was selected among the "Top 20 Under 40" by Shalom Life in 2015. Yacov has recently graduated from a Master’s of Pastoral Studies program at Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto.
