Dr. Ariela Di Catro-Bzhezinksy, Grafstein Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto, and specialist in the field of modern Jewish philosophy, probes this controversial subject. So radical were Spinoza's views that the Jewish community of Amsterdam excommunicated him. Yet, so profound was his influence in the shaping of modern Jewish thought that Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, wanted to accord Spinoza the honour of being interred in the land of Israel.
