Musical Participatory Service with Cantor Chaim Stern

A Proba Cantorial Weekend

Mar 29 2025, 9:00AM to 12:00PM in the Hendeles Chapel.
NOTE: This event has already occurred.

Beth Tzedec welcomes Cantor Chaim Stern for a Proba weekend, auditioning for our Senior Cantor position, featuring an extended weekend of music, prayer and learning.

Join us for a Musical Participatory Service as Cantor Stern joins Cantor Sidney Ezer and the HarmonEzers, our a cappella choir, conducted by Asher Farber. We will explore many classic and familiar melodies, as well as new and modern ones. With inspiring arrangements and innovative harmonies, we welcome you to sing along with us. A Congregational Kiddush follows.

Chaim Stern was born in 1996 to a renowned family of cantors in Jerusalem, with a long-standing tradition in cantorial music. He grew up in a Haredi environment in Beit Shemesh, Jerusalem, and Be'er Ya'akov. Chaim studied cantorial music at the Cantorial School in Petah Tikva and is considered one of the leading students of Maestro Eli Jaffe and Cantor Israel Rand.

Since 2020, Chaim has served as the Chief Cantor of the Great Synagogue in Munich. In addition, he regularly performs in Jewish communities around the world and in major synagogues in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Ramat Gan, as well as in the United States, Australia, and Europe. He collaborates with leading orchestras such as the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra, Ra'anana Symphonette, Israeli Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Camerata, MÁV Symphony Orchestra in Budapest, Amsterdam Jewish Chamber Ensemble, and Munich Jewish Chamber Orchestra, among others.

Chaim has performed in prestigious venues including Tel Aviv Culture Hall, Jerusalem Theater, The Concertgebouw and The Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, Prinzregententheater in Munich, and the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest. He has also participated in Jewish festivals in Poland and Germany.

In addition to his concert performances, Chaim frequently sings at weddings, memorials, and special events. His diverse repertoire includes liturgical cantorial music, Jewish soul music, Hasidic and Klezmer music, Israeli songs, and opera arias. His performances are known for their deep emotional connection, bringing a unique spiritual and musical experience to every audience.
