Putting Your Stamp on History

A new art installation created by Israeli artist Michelle Shalmiev

Aug 11 2025, 10:00AM to 4:00PM in the Reuben & Helene Dennis Museum..
NOTE: This event has already occurred.

Beth Tzedec is proud to present this new art installation created by Israeli artist Michelle Shalmiev and commissioned by Beth Tzedec members David and Leanne Matlow. This 17-piece series is crafted entirely from Israeli postage stamps and tells the story of Israel’s history through vibrant, textured imagery. Come experience the artwork and reflect on how each of us can put our own stamp on history.

This installation will be on display through the High Holy Days. We invite you to visit the Reuben & Helene Dennis Museum to experience the artwork and reflect on how each of us can put our own stamp on history.

Artist's Statement from Michelle Shalmiev:
“I express gratitude for the opportunity to share my art with Canadians and the younger generation, aspiring to inspire others to pursue their calling, express their feelings, and believe in the attainability of their dreams through positive thinking. I remain hopeful that Israel will recover from recent events and stand ready to welcome everyone to discover the generosity, diverse experiences, and the warm embrace of its positive and optimistic culture. There is no other choice but optimism, the very essence of our existence.”
